Blood

I lay down on the bed unruffled
My hand strapped by a compassionate nurse
The poky needle did its job, leaving me in pain
The scarlet fluid flowed through the tube into a sachet
Waiting patiently, I heard some whispers
“Rare group – A1 negative, you know?”
When the task was over, they let me go
The visit didn’t mean much to me
I was not enthralled;
The next day, a stranger called
And kept sobbing…
She reflected her deep gratitude
For saving her son.
Now I realized… it’s not just a fluid,
It’s the lifeline.
